FOR YOUR INFORMATION ONLY
For those who are striving to get ahead in their lives there are the following programs:
OPPORTUNITY PROGRAM: The Opportunity Program is funded through Family and Community Services – HRD. This program successfully assists members in gaining valuable skills in areas such as computer training, personal development, entrepreneurial training, and physical wellness.
FEDERAL PUBLIC SECTOR YOUTH INTERNSHIP PROGRAM: The FPSYIP provides youth, between the ages of 15 and 30, the opportunity to gain workplace skills through paid mentor-based internships in government agencies.
SELF- EMPLOYMENT BENEFIT: This is a program sponsored by the government to provide advice and guidance, along with financial support, for the unemployed person who desires to become self-employed.

ALL volunteers must go through a screening process with the Volunteer Coordinator. Security check must be done on each volunteer. During the screening process the coordinator will explain the responsibilities of the volunteer and then direct him/her to the specific department that he/she chooses. The Manager or Director will be notified when all the paper work is completed. At that time the volunteer will receive a call to arrange specific times, days, etc. when their skills will be required.
Volunteers are a vital link in helping the Saint John YM-YWCA to operate successful programs and meet the community’s needs.
