Settlement Services at the Saint John Y assists newcomers to Canada with their settlement needs and helps facilitate their integration and participation in Canadian society.
LINC is a continuous intake program that offers language training and Canadian cultural orientation to permanent residents in Saint John. Language classes are offered throughout the day from Monday to Friday, ranging from literacy to advanced English learning (LINC 6/7).
Eligible students must be permanent residents of Canada and 18 years of age or older.Students must write the Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) Assessment prior to LINC language studies at the Saint John Y. To register for the free CLB Assessment, please contact Settlement Services.
The NBELT Program is a free 14-week intensive employment preparation course for Canadian permanent residents interested in improving employment skills and English language ability. The NBELT Program offers specialized training in the areas of writing resumes and cover letters, business writing, basic computer training, building an e-portfolio, Prior Learning Assessment Recognition (PLAR), Canadian work place culture, Interview skills, Workplace Safety (WHMIS), and First Aid/CPR.
Students in the NBELT Program participate in volunteer opportunities, job shadowing, and complete a job placement following their classroom sessions.

A team of multilingual settlement counselors provide newcomers who are permanent residents to Canada with needs assessments, Canadian cultural orientation training, life skills support, and community referrals.
A professional Case Manager is available to provide support to newcomers who encounter emotional challenges in their transition into Canadian culture.
Settlement Services partners with schools in Districts 6 and 8 to introduce immigrant students and their families to the Canadian education system. The School Liaison at Settlement Services provides personalized orientation, guidance, and referrals to newcomer families with school-aged children and youth.
A weekly Homework Club and Student Mentorship Program are offered in various schools throughout Saint John to help facilitate introductions and friendships between Canadian students and youth who are new to the city.
The Resettlement Assistance Program at Settlement Services provides a wide range of essential services to Government Assisted Refugees to Saint John, New Brunswick. This Program offers services such as airport pick-up, temporary and permanent accommodations and an introduction to Canadian banking, shopping, education, legal system and much more.
The Community Connections Program at Settlement Services helps connect new immigrants with local residents and community organizations in the Greater Saint John region.
