The Saint John YMCA-YWCA, Saint John’s oldest charity, has been proudly building strong kids for over 150 years. Kids that grow up to be teachers, doctors, engineers, peacekeepers, mothers, fathers, grandfathers, grandmothers – in other words kids that grow up to be just like you.

Kids are not born strong – they are built step by step through positive encounters with adults who show by example with caring, patience and devotion. The Y is where kids do things they never dreamed of. It’s where young men and women grow to be the foundation of our future.

The Saint John YMCA-YWCA is launching is annual support campaign called “Strong Kids”. This campaign helps the Y stand by youth who would otherwise not be able to participate in Y programs and services. The Saint John YMCA-YWCA turns no child away because they are unable to pay – we are open to all. Through the community’s support, the Y reaches out to those who need our help the most. What is the Y's Financial Assistance Policy? (Subsidy Policy)

The programs of the YMCA-YWCA are open to everyone regardless of their race, creed or economic circumstance. Everyone contributes – donations to Strong Kids helps families who contribute what they can towards the cost of the programs and services. Donations to the Strong Kids Campaign help the Y fund all of the important programs and initiatives that our community expects from us. A donation to Strong Kids is tax deductible.

How can I help build Strong Kids?

• A gift of $50 will provide Melanie the chance to learn to swim and participate in Kids in the Kitchen.
• A gift of $90 will give Tim the opportunity to go on field trips, play games and make wonderful memories at Y Day Camps.
• A gift of $125 supports Jennifer suffering from trauma or grief in our Rainbows program in her own school.
• A gift of $300 will help the Smith family with bridge funding for child care while they struggle with a difficult situation in their lives.
• A gift of $500 will help both Matt and Geoff go hiking, canoeing and have fun at Glenburn.
